Headache Treatment Cape Town
Some headaches start in the neck and upper back. These cervicogenic and tension-type headaches can respond to manual therapy, exercise and changes to daily load.
Other headaches need a doctor. Assessment screens for these first and refers when needed.

Common causes
How did it start?
Cervicogenic headache
One-sided headache that starts in the neck and is provoked by neck movement or sustained postures. Manual therapy combined with exercise has good support.
Tension-type headache
A band-like pressure around the head, often linked with stress, sleep and long screen time.
Migraine
Co-managed with your GP. Neck care can help some people with neck pain alongside migraine.
Jaw (TMJ) pain
Clicking, jaw pain and headaches around the temples can be helped with manual therapy and exercise.
